Know Your Worth
We were bought with a price, and in God’s eyes He sees perfection. His heart is filled with nothing but overflowing love when He looks at us, but often times we fail to see what He sees. Instead, we see what people say we are, we compare ourselves to that guy or girl at our school, or we “wish” for that one thing in our lives to change so we can then have confidence and feel good. I’m here to tell you that you are loved, valued, and important just as you are. (1 Corinthians 7:23).
The Bible tells us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14) by the creator. God says “before you were formed in the womb I knew you” (Jer. 1:5). If God made us special, and knew us before we even entered this world then who you are is exactly who he created you to be. And we know that “God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). Your purpose and his plan for you wouldn’t be complete without you! It is easier to say “have confidence” than it is to do it, and believe me when I say I don’t have it all together either, however, we serve a God who is bigger than our insecurities and is ever present no matter the circumstance. I spent a lot of time trying to be someone else. I measured my confidence on the basis of materialistic things and spent more time focusing on what I didn’t have and didn’t look like rather than the qualities and attributes God gave me. Matthew 6:25 put me in perspective as it says “do not worry about your life,… or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”
A devotional I was reading encouraged the reader to make a list of God’s truths and to speak them over themselves. I made my list, starting with: “God loves me”, “Because of God I am fearfully and wonderfully made” “God is working in my life”, and “God has blessed me and given me favor”. Words have power and when we speak His truths into existence we are covered by His promises. How we feel about ourselves affect us in more ways than we know. (Proverbs 18:21). I encourage you to speak God’s truths over yourself. (Psalm 119:172) Shout them out! Believe it and receive it. Each of us are so special and loved in God’s eyes, and He wants you and me! Know your worth and whom you belong to. You are His!
