[Into the Abyss]
Rest in this goodness found today:
dug up from holy grounds,
Uncovered by earth-soiled hands
and cherished by heaven-stamped hearts.
Near-sighted children search for purpose,
until Your light illuminates our ignorance.
As I near cliff’s edge I stumble.
Lord, we have never been here before.
Nevertheless, Your constant gaze draws me nearer.
and our hesitant walk becomes a lover’s waltz.
Doubt cannot live on this sacred hilltop.
so we leave our baggage in the valley.
And Run.
Jesus’ arms are a target for my heart to aim.
His scarlet-stained cross, my finish line.
Unafraid and unashamed, I jump.
here I find myself in You, and in Your arms at last.
May my leap be a masterpiece at which the world marvels.
may my life be a watercolor of joy.
Paint me a new purpose, O Lord.
push me into the abyss of your never-ending love.
