Helmet of Salvation
The Brain needs to be protected by the helmet. The brain is a vital part of life. It gives us our personality, feelings, emotions, and keeps our heart and lungs working. If we damage our brain we damage our body as well as intangible things such as reason. C.S. Lewis in his book ‘Screwtape Letters’ emphasizes the importance of using reason to strengthen out faith and our confidence in our salvation. With the helmet of salvation, we have the confidence to know that we have been covered by the death and resurrection of Jesus on the Cross, and are able to use that to strengthen our faith.
Every morning and evening we should, as Christians, ask for the joy of our salvation to be made new. In this modern age, information flies at us constantly and we become numb to the goodness and the grace of the Lord. When we make a conscious effort to give thanks our minds automatically turn to Kingdom things. Our Kingdom or eternal focus allows us to follow the Lords command: to spread the Word of God to the ends of the earth, training and admonishing and edifying those new and old in the faith (Matthew 28:16-20).
