Introduction
As Christians, we must constantly be aware of spiritual warfare. The Apostle Paul makes it clear in Ephesians 6 that our battle in life is not against one another, but against the things unseen. You may encounter spiritual warfare in various ways. For example, Satan wants us to believe that God does not give us all that we need, and that God does not show us perfect love in all circumstances. Satan told the same thing to Eve at the very beginning of the world saying, if only she eat of the fruit, then she would know all the knowledge God had hidden from her. The take away from this story, aside from how sin entered the world, is to show that Satan has always tried to trick us into the belief that we need more than what God has already given us. The Lord has provided us with all that we need, including a way to protect ourselves from these lies through His truth and the mindset of putting on the full armor of God.
This battle that we fight is for what is true, good and holy. In order to fight against Satan’s lies we must put on the full armor of God, as Paul tells us in Ephesians 6. Over the next few weeks, the different parts of the armor will be explained; why it was important for soldiers and how that relates to our spiritual walks today. Take hope, brothers and sisters, that you are not alone in this fight. The Holy Spirit knew 2,000 years ago that we needed instruction on how to walk daily through spiritual warfare, and provided us with an image of how to do just that.
